.Junior year is an exceeding stressful time for high school students, but the best way to relieve anxiety is to pace yourself and prepare for the standardized tests early, so you know what to expect. Working with a tutor on ACT or SAT test prep will increase your awareness of the test format and content. As the following article states, starting early on all aspects of the admissions process will make everything less stressful.
What juniors should be doing
While seniors are immersed in college applications, juniors have their own stresses, with a rigorous course load and a slew of standardized tests coming up. This is the year for standardized tests so make a testing plan. If you took the PSAT in October, you should get your scores in December. If you plan to take the SAT for the first time in March, you can start a test prep program in January. I have my students take one or two practice tests in advance so they are familiar with the format. There is much to do and it can feel overwhelming. However, starting early will make this process much less stressful.
