It may seem a little early to start thinking about taking the SATs but early and prolonged preparation can be the key to getting the scores you want. According to Collegeboard.org (the folks who own and administer the SAT), at least half of all students take the test twice. Those who do almost always score higher the second time. So, when is the best time to take the tests? Most students take the main SAT for the first time during the spring of their junior year and a second time during the fall of their senior year. It’s important to start now for that March exam because it’s really the ideal time. There are few holidays in March and April meaning that you’ll have fewer distractions. The weather is also study-friendly in that those April showers are a great time to stay indoors and hit the books. Lastly, scheduling yourself for the March exam gives you three months to prepare while leaving the month of May open for any Subject Tests you might want to add.
